L'IMS est un arbre intermédiaire qui relie le moteur à la chaîne de distribution.
Le changer c'est mettre un arbre avec un roulement renforcé, en général avec des billes en céramique.
Car c'est le roulement original de cet arbre qui est fragile, avec normalement une lubrification étanche et à vie. Mais ce roulement fragile casse finalement par manque de lubrification et c'est alors la catastrophe : lorsqu'il y a casse de l'IMS... il y a création d'une salade de soupapes :-(
